From Jehovah Is Your Name to Lavish Worship, Minister Ntokozo Mbambo has continued to bless the Body of Christ with a sound that carries both excellence and an unmistakable hunger for the presence of God. For more than two decades, her voice has travelled across generations, cultures and nations, becoming one of the distinctive sounds of South African gospel worship.
Born and raised in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Ntokozo began singing in church from a young age. At just 15, she became the youngest member of the internationally acclaimed Joyous Celebration, serving as a lead singer and later as a voice coach during her 13 years with the group. In 2011, she stepped into her solo journey, continuing to develop a ministry that has reached far beyond South Africa.
Her journey has been marked by songs that have become declarations of faith and worship. Her music has earned major recognition, including multiple South African Music Awards, African Gospel Music and Media Awards and other honours. Her 2023 project Lavish Worship went on to win three South African Music Awards, including Album of the Year, while she received further recognition for her contribution to African Gospel music.
But beyond the awards and stages, Ntokozo understands her music as ministry. In her own words, she does not see herself merely as a singer or vocalist; she believes she carries a purpose in her message and that functioning in her God-given gifting is ministry, not performance.
This year, that sound from South Africa will resound in Nairobi as Minister Ntokozo Mbambo joins Rhema Feast 2026 at Uhuru Park. Her presence promises to be more than a musical presentation; it is an opportunity for worshippers to encounter God through a voice that has been refined through years of service, surrender and pursuit of His presence.
She is a worshipper whose sound has become a bridge between generations, carrying the richness of African gospel while speaking to a global Church. From the early days of singing in church, to Joyous Celebration, to sold-out gatherings and her acclaimed solo ministry, Ntokozo's journey continues to testify that when a gift is surrendered to God, it can become a vessel through which many encounter Him.
